BitTorrent is used to download files from the internet using peer to
peer sharing, and it helps to reduce load on busy ftp servers and
possibly faster downloads from a source close to you.
From the file menu of kbittorrent, select "paste bittorrent url", and
enter the url of the file you want to download.
For example, if you want to download the latest FreeBSD 6.1 release
iso's, get the url from:
http://torrents.freebsd.org:8080/
On Ubuntu, bittorrent may be invoked from mozilla or firefox. Using
synaptic or other package managers, install bittorrent.Open mozilla or
firefox. Point the browser to a bittorrent seed. Click on the file you
want to download, and select "open with default application
/usr/bin/btdownloadgui " and do the rest. man btdownloadgui for more info.
If download is interrupted, you could continue it later and manage it
well. BitTorrent generally downloads the iso's etc into directories
along with md5 checksums if any. If you are using k3b to burn the iso
to a cd, the integrity of the download is checked automatically. HTH.
