If you believe everything you see on digg, slashdot etc, you'll
probably
believe that a space alien is remote controlling jayalalitha's brain
if you want to host about 10 websites, there are two ways of going
about it. 'el cheapo', paying around 2-3 k a year for php-mysql-
cpanel stuff where you only have ftp access. Or going for the real
thing, a vps hosting with about 10-20 gb of space and root access
where you can do whatever you want, give your friends shell access,
use languages like perl, python ruby, web frameworks like django,
rubyonreals and generally have a ball. tektonic.net, for example,
gives reliably vps for around 12 k a year. Of course, there is a lot
of do it your self stuff there - but then thats where the fun comes in.
