Might be already late to suggest something else to you... but I just
got an indicom Internet connection (its a dialup, but well, there are
no limits on the time/bandwidth usage. All for Rs.1500/-). The phone
also happens to be a nice standard modem (yes, i configured it for
debian using pppconfig and works like a charm :>) and unlike reliance,
the data cable comes for free. I get an average of 3K/s (which might
be... umm... "okay" when compared to other ISPs but the good thing is
I let it run the entire night and seems like there were no
disconnections).
