When I was browsing Anna University website, I came across the page of
Laboratory Requirements
for CSE/IT/MCA Lab.

The University has proposed the following softwares to be used in the
CSE/IT/MCA laboratory
for the academic year 2008-09 (almost all obselete proprietory
softwares/freewares have got entries. Don't get
surprised if you see PWS (Personal Web Server) in the IT Lab syllabus and no
mentioning about
Apache/Tomcat).
I have short listed the softwares recommended by the University and is

Pl. through the list and you will know, why GNU/GPL/FOSS softwares hasn't
reached the shores of Indian Education
