I found it quite inappropriate that you've asked for Apple Macs
with WinXP!!!
If a Windows machine is needed, why buy a Mac, remove MacOS and load
WinXP (assuming this as no virtual machine has been asked for like
Parallels)? Much better choice exists for Windows laptops from other
vendors. The reason folks buy the Mac is for the total
experience of
which a very major contributor is MacOS. Without that, the
hardware is
just as good as any other normal laptop.
Being a premier institution, it would have been better if open source
software were chosen, in my opinion.
