Is there any linux equivalent testing software to Window based Sysmark 2007
? Sysmark 2007 is a windows based application which will test the CPU and
other motherboard devices and tell us whether the system enhances the
productivity or not. I am assisting my superior in evaluating computers
which have to be supplied to various customers. As ELCOT has the habit of
arm-twisting the vendors to supply at dead cheap prices, vendors may act
smart on us by supplying the goods at a lesser standard. So to test the
deliverables that we had asked for, we use some evaluating softwares. One of
them is Sysmark 2007. it is a windows based software. We are looking for a
linux equivalent software.
I haven't seen any such equivalent softwares but there's a
benchmarking suite called phoronix test suite[1] which conducts some
basic tests like compiling software, drawing patterns using opengl.
You can conduct the tests using this suite and compare benchmarks. I
haven't used it extensively to conclusively say how good it is though.
If you train me on installing skype with voice and / or video, I will remove
windows from my home PC and install ubuntu.
Well you can install latest version of skype from the ubuntu
repositories. I believe it is not available in official repositories
so you will have to check the documents for installation procedure.
