query online).
I wrote to the HP Linux Desktop support team and they replied to me
that, I will loose the support for the OS and the warrenty on items
that gets dammaged (?!) due to installing any other OS. But they also
went on to say that Ubuntu supports their desktops but they dont
endorse that. This was a huge U turn from what the sales support guy
first told me. I then placed an order for the Laptop and I got the
same re-assurance that I loose support only for the OS.
DELL has fallen out of favour over here. Mainly because of poor
quality service and bad customer support. A collegue of mine reported
that he ordered a Keyboard and got an Anti Virus software delevered to
him.
Apple's Lepord's installer has an option to any new OS on their
computers and repartition their harddisks. They were happy to support
it, but the price of their hardware was too expensive for me.
Acer and Toshibha did not have a customizable version atleast here in
the US. All were pre-built models.
I just thought I would share the info with the group if some would
find it useful :-)
