The ADSL Modem you have uses PPPoE. It should technically work with any
ISP that provides DSL over PPPoE. Touchtel for instance, does PPPoA and so
your gizmo won't work with their service (the modem part). I recently
bought a modem in the US that can handle PPPoA and worked without any
problem. Of course, you can just buy /rent a modem here and use this as a
router / FW. The router / FW of course are independent of service / IP
protocol and the like.
