first of all thanks for taking interest in my prob :-) now to the definition ,
after i press enter for install[ [ All the linux version viz Mandrake,Rh,Dragon
etc etc] ,it checks for all the hardware and It stops exactly after looking for
the cd rives and when coming to HDD.then the comment given by setup is
"partition check", am typing the exact words in the setup,hope it helps u in
understanding my situation.
after checking for the installed hardware (it detects my HDD then CD rom drive
and floppy )
IT STOPS RIGHT THERE
partition check :
hda<4> hda : dma_timer_expiry
:dma status == 0x21
hda drive not ready for command
hda time out waiting for DMA
hda:(__ide_dma_testing_irq)
called while not waiting
hda: status error:status = 0x58
{DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest
this goes on for hda<5>,hda<6>,then it gets bored and waits for a sec and then
am able to run the complete setup.
during startup to the same dma chk is done for 5 mins .. then usual startup
takes place(all the ok stuff !) then it stops after
remounting Filesystem in read write mode [ok]
activating swap partition [ok]
<stops here and does not proceed>
