Hello all,

We are creating and sending IPC-D-356 netlist with our gerber files.
We also add "expected shorts / open circuits" in the header of the netlist.
Some of our boards require internal routed channels (ncroutes) that have clines terminating into the channel. (guarding purposes).
I know, sounds odd...but still a requirement for some applications.

PROBLEM: I received a call from our board fab that the IPC-D-356 netlist included more than "expected shorts" due to the ncroutes on board geometry outline layer is included in each artwork film files. They compare their gerber generated netlist to our IPC netlist to find this.

I know we could remove board outline from the gerber files, but even when deleting all but one artwork film file, the netlist is still approximately the same size. Indicating to me that IPC-D-356 is running against the .brd and NOT the artwork film files. So, removing board outline from gerber files would not make any difference.

I do not see any indication of "extra shorts" in the IPC netlist or log file.

Any ideas how we can keep this from happening in the future?

Thanks,
MArk
