Yes, recordings created by the left-side button are always saved on the flash
drive. But if a person is going to record something of any serious length, I
would put it on the hard drive for a few reasons:
1. You won't run out of room while recording.
2. You're not filling up the drive with your operating system with unnecessary
files, especially if they are large.
I guess number 2 is a personal observation, but I would rather have my personal
files on the HD and system files on flash.

What about the quick recordings you make by pressing the button on the side
of the unit? Aren't they always stored on the flash disk?

I can tell you one thing, you may want to place recordings on the hard
drive, not the flash disk. For one thing, there's more room on the HD and
the system software is primarily stored on the flash drive, so there's a
greater chance of things being erased during an update.
When in the recorder, when the unit says "recordings in flash" hit a
left-arrow and that should bring you to the hard drive. Unit should say
"records on the hard drive." Now, record something and this will set your
unit to always use the hard drive unless you change it again.
Hope this helps, and no, I'm not sure if you can get the recordings made to
the flash back.

Hi, everyone: after doing the upgrade,and after backing up and restoring my
data, I discovered that all of my recordings on the flash card had
disappeared. They don't appear in the recordings folder. I didn't do any
reflash. My contacts and other items are still there. Any ideas what might
have happened, and if there is a way of recovering them? Thanks.
