I suspect that the Orion, like the Icon, would have specialty software that
does much of what we need it to do so we probably wouldn't need all that
much third party software.

Actually, in the podcast mention was given to the Orion working with 3rd 
party software.
in fact that is the whole purpose of going with Android, so the blind 
community can have access to all the android applications.
I hope I'm not giving out wrong information, but that is what I understood 
from the podcast.
