Once files have imported, they are supposed to go away. I'll be curius if you continue to have this problem or if anyone else is having it.

not in my case.  The folder was still under import.

Once you have imported a book, it it is automatically deleted from the
import folder.

how are you trying to access it?  using file explorer, I find it under
library/books.

Tip: once you have imported a book, you can remove it from the import
folder.
