Hello,
As robert said reading newspapers, books, and blogs can be an important part of ones job. I personally use the icon for all of these, as well as keeping my appointments and taking notes in thumb braille. If i need to write a novel, I have my bluetooth keyboard. I too also understand the need for braille however, all things come in time. It is also important to have gps. As an assistive technology specialist at a rather large university I could certainly benifit from having to carry one less device.

The majority of Braille note users do not have GPS, and, the reason many of
them will not switch to the Icon or Braille Plus is, the word Braille. A
Braille note has a refreshable Braille display, and that is important to
some.
However, this brings me to some other questions. I see mail on this list
about downloading podcasts, RSS feeds, music etc. I rarely, however, see
mail from anyone who is using the Icon or the Braille Plus for anything
besides well, pleasure.
I would love to hear from someone who is actually using either device to do
real work. For instance, is anyone using either device to take notes in
meetings? To keep important appointment information? As someone who can
make recommendations for clients, it is fairly important to gain some of
this information. Yes, the Icon and Braille Plus have many unique and
wonderful features, but when it comes to procuring products for clients, I
can't justify purchasing an Icon because the client can download NBC nightly
news!
Therefore, if anyone on this list is using one of these devices either as a
student or a professional, I'd love to hear about it.
You can either write to the list or write me off list.

Well, you might consider it sooner because the sooner that you incorporate
GPS into your product, the sooner current BrailleNote consumers will be
switching.

Are there any plans to develop a GPS System for the Icon/ Braille Plus?
I would gladly give up my BrailleNote with the GPS if it were to become
available. Regards, Claude Everett American by chance, Californian by

Actually, that would be the April 22 paper, <smile>! For some bizarre
unexplainable reason, the misdating started yesterday. I religiously
download the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington
Post

every morning. (Yeah, call me an elitist, <smile>!)

The newspapers we download on the Icon or Braille plus are incorrect.
The
date displays as April 24 but the actual paper is the Tuesday May 22
paper.
I downloaded them from Bookshare using Kurzweil and they are correct
there.
The The papers we get are

San Antonio Express News
