Thank you for clarifying this. Your time frame is very close to my recent
experience with wireless burned off and listening to music MP3's from the
hard drive with headphones using 1.1 build 1 software.

I've noticed a decline in more recent software releases. These days, it'll
be more like 4 to 5 hours, playing music with Wireless turned off.

I have known people to go longer than the eight hours stated by the
manual, but that is with wireless turned off, and I believe they were
listening to music, MP3s from the hard drive. Some have reported twelve
hours, I stated that number in an earlier message, but should clarify that I
believe they were using headphones and playing media from the hard drive.

Someone told me that they are getting 5 hours of battery life with all
radios off on the Icon handheld without the Dock. Is that what others are
getting? My main scenario I'd like to see a positive thing about is this:
Let's say you have a long flight (and I fly across country twice a year and
the longer flights of the two that I usually take to get to my destination
last about 5 hours). Will the Icon's battery allow for you to listen to a
book for the entire flight, and still have enough battery life to last a
shorter 30 minute commuter flight before it conks out? Again, this is
strictly for the handheld unit. I know that the manual states up to 8 hours
but I'd like to see some responses from actual users, so that's why I'm
asking you guys. Also, has anyone been in the situation that I'm usually in
twice a year?
