I'd been waiting for the new version of sabayon to come out to give it a try... looks like it's been out for almost a month now: http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=sabayon Sounds like it ran smoothly up to the wireless problem... which is encouraging. From a quick google, it sounds like you should check to make sure your hardware works under the BCM43xx driver (I'll refer you to sources I use for information as I am not familiar with the sabayon website): http://www.gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_BCM43xx > Ndiswrapper was not loading properly so I tried > "modules-update force." That somehow stopped bcm43xx from loading (I > get error messages now), but ndiswrapper still was not loading. This command (`modules-update force`) checks the /etc/modules.conf file to see if all the lines in it are currently loaded. If your order of operations is correct, this should come after writing `ndiswrapper` to the /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 file. If your /etc/modues.conf file is still in tack, you should not have loaded any "extra" modules as this file (at least for my installation) is automatically generated through `modules-update` (note: the [force] command is not usually needed in this case. To temporarally load a module (ie until next reboot) simply use the command `modprobe <module_name>` instead of editing the /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x ) I'm still new to the RAID world, so I haven't figured out exactly what is needed/not needed (I just followed the guides from the gentoo website: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/lvm2.xml http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Gentoo_Install_on_Software_RAID_mirror_and_LVM2_on_top_of_RAID) and haven't played with it more (read: intentionally broken it). My first guess would be that you could simply remove the LVM2, mdadm, and raidtools packages... (help anyone?) You could also check to make sure `raid0` or similar are not in your /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 file as that is what I had to add to mine to get software raid working. I don't know about lirc, but as I am link happy today: http://gentoo-wiki.com/Lirc Paul On 2/2/07, Boian Berberov <berberov@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Hello Everyone, > > I am new to the list.
