Tinkeritis has struck again.
I'm running another temporary beacon, this time on 28.2587 MHz and would
appreciate reception reports. Unfortunately the band is in a slump at the
moment.
I've cobbled together an Arduino UNO, an Si5351 chip, and a Pace model 10-2 CB
and I'm able to get 7 or 8 watts out of it by increasing the supply voltage to
about 18 volts or so after a re-tune to 10 meters. The specs on the
transistors say they're good for much higher than that and there aren't any low
voltage caps to blow, just a 12v panel lamp that I don't care about. I just
connected the output of the Si5351 directly to a crystal socket.
I may look at putting a 6 meter beacon on the air. I've got an old low band
Motorola Maxtrac radio on the shelf that has been converted to 6 meters so I
just need to come up with a way to key it cleanly.
