Sorry for my late entry into this thread. My friend, James T Murray, a NYC photographer uses an H2O back on his Hasselblads and, yes, it costs a lot. See his website: www.jamestmurray.com He states that his improved and increased workflow as well as the savings over film (true for any digital photo system) have easily offset the investment in this back. Of course he operates on a level where this type of investment makes sense. CHEERS! The conversion was done in a lab in California. The film is called "Pinkeltje" after a book from a famous Dutch writer, Dick Laan, of childrens stories. The effect case was a matter of scale small players about 1/30 of their original size moving about in our large world. The director had thought about this and used a sort of cube to set the scale correctly everytime small and large players were together in one shot. I was involved with the music score made and recorded for this film. Was it Prospero's Books? I believe that was the technique used, and it was quite beautiful. -----Original Message----- From: hasselblad-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:hasselblad-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of flexbody Sent: Thursday, 8 November 2007 6:55 AM To: hasselblad@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [HUG] Re: For those wishing to become digits Mark, That is certainly a rare case of using digital images and converting them back to film. Some 30 years ago I was involved with the production of a motion picture that was recorded using high grade video. The film contained a large amount of special effects that were easier to do with video. The final cut was turned into a negative on film that was used to make the copies that went the movie theatres. Great stuff to be involved with.
