I never ran the proprietary BeOS, so I don't know what those
indispensable(?) closed-source, gcc2-only apps might be.
Nothing you can use in Linux, FreeBSD, or failing that, MS-Windows or Mac?
If I wanted to run Linux, FreeBSD, Windows or macOS, I would not be
here. The main closed source app at the moment for me is Sync Modular,
which has a Windows version. Other people will talk of GoBe Productive
and I'm sure there are a few others.
I didn't even recognize the name Sync Modular but remember reading about GoBe
Productive.
There are open-source office suites around for Linux and the BSDs, so I assume
it must be possible now, with the advantage of 15 years, to achieve the
functionality of GoBe Productive on Linux and FreeBSD, not sure about Haiku.
Being not familiar with Sync Modular, I wouldn't know what to look for to find
equivalent functionality in open-source applications.
I used Quattro Pro 5 for DOS for income tax data and calculations but migrated
more recently to Gnumeric (still not Haiku-compatible).
I am curious about Teapot spreadsheet, imagine it should build for Haiku in the
text/terminal version but probably not for the GUI version with FLTK.
