[haiku-development] boot issues (both hdd and usb stick) on FX9850 cpu based system

Hi everybody,

since I currently can't report a bug, I just write to this list. After days
of trying I still didn't get Haiku to boot on the hardware I currently have
available:

AMD 790FX/SB600 based mainboard
AMD Phenom FX9850
2GB DDR 800
160GB SATA HDD

Trying to boot from the HDD failed completely, but I didn't yet figure out
why. Basically I get a "bad superblock magic' ...

Since I had no clue I tried to boot from an USB stick, which gives me a
totally different result. The system doesn't print any error message instead
it just displays a blinking cursor in the top left corner of the screen an
hangs, no soft reset possible, no trip to whatsoever.

I also tried to boot from the USB stick basically disabling anything which
could be disabled in the BIOS including the SATA devices, still the same
result ...

Any ideas? Running Haiku on this machine in QEMU is slower than running it on
my fucking old PIII-M notebook with just 752MB of ram in VESA mode, as the
intel_extreme driver doesn't like my notebook. Just want to get something
descent working ;-)

Cheers,
Rossi
