I've not given up, I'm still working on it :) Currently not finding as 
much time for it as I'd like though...

I actually have a new version of the priority inheritance patch 
finished now and it works very fine here. However I still need to do 
more tests and benchmarks before I want to release it, to make sure 
it's not buggy like the last one... btw, while doing tests with my new 
computer with dualcore-CPU I found that it's easy to cause these 
freezes/glitches with 2 CPUs as well, you just have to put enough load 
on both cores.. so it's not limited to single-processor machines. I'm 
suppose you can even have it on a quadcore (although I can't test that) 
with enough system load.

Currently I'm trying to find the reason for remaining glitches that are 
not solved by my patch. Although it significantly reduces the number of 
glitches on my machine under load, they can still occur under certain 
conditions. From what I've gathered so far, it seems to be a different 
problem unrelated to mutexes and priorities, I'm currently 
investigating that and hope to solve that too.
