Dear list,
*Good Luck to accepted students:*
First of all congratulations to all the participants who got selected in
GSOC'12. I would like to wish them good luck for the summer and pray that
they can finish off their projects on time.

*Now my few words about my experience in haiku community and GSOC :*
When i thought about participating in GSOC, i was not sure of any
organization which was suitable for me. I was looking for a complete OS
implementation project and i visited Minix. Minix is also a good project
but due to some problems in graphical interface i switched to Haiku,
suggested by someone on Minix (as i wanted to test some other OSs, my spare
time activity). When i visited www.haiku.org, i was really surprised about
the existence of such type of projects. I would personally say haiku is one
of the good OSs i have worked on(this list includes Ubuntu,Windows7,
BackTrack4,Fedora). I was new to IRC channels, git and bug tracker before i
started learning on this project(IMAPFS). As i started working, many
obstacles came into my way and i some how figured out how to face them.

*Personal Thanks to :*
I was not having the source code for filesystems/ folder and then i started
asking on IRC i would personally say Mr. Luroh helped me alot in this task.
He had sent me many zipped folders whenever i asked . Thanks Mr. Luroh,
hope i'll back to IRC after sometime.
Then i started learning some of the concepts of Haiku and started working
on ticket 8449.
I learnt few things from bonefish too.. about the coding guidelines. Sorry
Mr. Bonefish, i was not upto haiku's coding guidelines but next time i will
be prepared for it and hope i'll be completing the patch for 8449 as soon
as possible(don't consider the fs_func_c_final.patch version as final
because i wrote final there, i was in somewhat hurry to patch that up)

*Crucial part:*
Now i understand why i was not selected??
When i asked Mr. Pulkomandy about "what after submission of proposals?", he
said show us that u r working on the project. I missed this part.
Sorry Mr. Pulkomandy i disappointed you and haiku. I was busy in the
academic projects and other assignments and the most dangerous one--> end
semester Exams(btw i'm having Formal languages & Automata Theory's paper
today). So i would correct myself next year(if program is there and i am
working for haiku till then).
I started for IMAP as a local filesystem and disturbed so many people
including Mr. Ingo and Mr. Madia and many others on IRC too.

*Problem:*
My main aim was to get some work in summers as my other colleagues were
applying for summer internships, i made a daring act of not applying for
any of those available internships(which were easily accessible to me as i
have a cpi of 9.38/10) and preparing for GSOC. It was worth the effort but
now i have to apply for some of the startups in India for summer internship
which may not be of my interest work :( .

*Thanks for Support: I must say Haiku has many quality developers.*
Well thank you all for your support and i'll try to come back soon on
IRC->#haiku my only channel(default one) so that i can contribute to Haiku
and in the meantime i will sharp my edge on Kernel Land development because
that is what my interest is.

Thanks for giving this mail a shot
