A release that doens't work on any modern hardware will not be that helpful. If
two weeks after the release we are already telling people to use the nightlies
because they have new network drivers, the release would be a failure.

My vote goes to doing the work as soon as possible, and if it creates problems,
we can always revert it in the release branch until things are sorted out.

I second this notion as well, there are a lot of network devices that now work
in the newer BSD releases that do not work in the currently used releases.
Also, I would be willing to commit to a $100 donation for USB networking to
become functional. I know it is not much money, but It is what I can contribute
since I have neither time nor skill to undertake the project myself.
