#7967: Update menu modifier images to more accurately reflect the corresponding key that appears on the keyboard ------------------------------+---------------------------- Reporter: jscipione | Owner: stippi Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: R1 Component: User Interface | Version: R1/Development Resolution: | Keywords: Blocked By: | Blocking: Has a Patch: 0 | Platform: All ------------------------------+---------------------------- Comment (by bonefish): Haiku has key roles which can be freely assigned to keys (yes, the key role names originate from the Mac Clone keyboards in the old days (and no, mine didn't have a key labeled "Alt")). The names/icons of those key roles should appear in the menus. Guessing what is actually printed on the corresponding physical key is tedious and won't always work anyway (be that due to keyboard manufacturers renaming keys, localizing the names, or having other great ideas how to make things less consistent). So please let's just stick with the key roles. FWIW, I agree with the "SHFT" -> "SHIFT" and "CTL" -> "CTRL" renaming, and I guess we should also localize the key role names. -- Ticket URL: <http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/7967#comment:11> Haiku <http://dev.haiku-os.org> Haiku - the operating system.
