Did you try add/remove programs on the control panel? One of the choices is repair, in addition to uninstall and modify.
But I don't know about IE -- it's different for each program.

On this subject. Does XP home and XP pro have the Internet Explorer repair
tool? I was trying to help a friend with her Del computer and it does not
have the repair tool. A Del service person told her XP doesn't have it.
