not long after I qualified as a guide dog owner, and was keen to get out and
about and make the best use of my new found independence, I decided to go into
town and do some shopping and visit the bank, as it was a cold winter's morning
I put on all of my warm clothes, including a thick woolly hat, which I keep in
the draw with my gloves and scarf, but could not find my right hand glove, so
thinking I had lost it I set off without it holding the dog's harness in my
gloved left hand and sticking the naked one in my pocket, and so did all my
errands into town on the bus, anyway to cut a short story long, on the way home
I popped into the vets, and the girls behind the counter started giggling, and
one of them said Mr Simpson you have got a glove on your head, no said I have a
hat on my head.
Only to discover on feeling my head, that my wayward glove had firmly velcroa'd
itself to my woolly hat, and it had obviously been there all morning.
needless to say I felt a bit of a burke, but this is the funny side of being
blind
