Hi everyone. It looks like Cayuga Greens is continuing to roll forward. Have any of you been at any of the meetings about it to lobby for green building strategies? Maybe we could start to accumulate some suggestions through these list serves in preparation for future opportunities that one or several of us might have to present them. Todd Saddler My suggestions: - The project should hire an accountant who can understand and demonstrate to financers that any energy saving features that will pay for themselves over the life of the loans are cost effective and should be implimented. Some of the energy features: - Tight construction tecniques - Super insulation - Ground source heat pump - Solar hot water heater Other green features: - Roof Gardens - Operable windows - A central compost disposal location - Bike lanes or paths in the building complex Also, make Ithaca's streets safer for biking in general so the residents will be able to get around with less than 1 car per capita.
