Oh, I guess they finally did add Favorites folder redirection, but it looks like it is limited to Windows Vista and Server 2008 due to the differences in version 1 and version 2 user profiles. So for the Desktop folder you should be good to go, except that you shouldn't need to enable the "Create a folder for each user under the root path selected" option. If you're 100% Vista/Server 2008 (which I doubt you are), Favorites will work just fine as well. If not, you'd have to resort to some custom ADM's to do the redirection (registry setting), as well scripts to move the actual data around. Also, since it sounds like you're creating/editing the GPOs on Vista/2008, you need to make sure you check the "Also apply redirection policy to Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 operating systems" or those legacy operating systems won't be able to read the redirection policy because the name of the file created in SYSVOL will be different then what they are looking for. As for favorites it is a Folder Redirection option under the new admx's. Is this not the proper way to do favorites? However, it is possible to redirect the Favorites folder with some custom registry settings and scripts. Keep in mind if you're already redirecting to %HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH% you shouldn't need to create a new folder for each user upon redirection.
