Reminder: If you want to be counted in the Point to Pointe, get your info to Jeff as per my previous note, which is repeated below> John -----Original Message----- From: john [mailto:john@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Sunday, May 16, 2004 8:20 PM To: 'gpsbug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: FW: Point to Pointe Race -----Original Message----- From: John [mailto:john@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Sunday, May 16, 2004 7:19 PM To: 'gpsbug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Cc: 'Sean Gibbons'; Jeff Rogers Subject: Point to Pointe Race Here's what we need to do to sign up for Point to Pointe (entry fee has not been established yet....this could be fully sponsored, except for dinner and the like). The instructions below are from Jeff Rogers who is handling things for OPYC and who will be the handicapper. There is a lot of planning that needs to get done between now and then, and some early information would be helpful. OPYC can host us on Friday, the night before the race, but they need some information for the clubhouse staff, the MP's and the marina (as this is a military installation), and for the handicapper. For the clubhouse staff, we need to provide the name of your boat and how many will be at OPYC on Friday. For the MP"s, we need the following (for any boats that will be tying up at Ft Monroe on Friday: Boat name and type, incl length and beam, Owner's name, and names of all guests who will be aboard when the boat comes to Ft. Monroe. Ask everyone to bring picture ID. VA driver's license is fine. List of others who intend to drive by car to Ft. Monroe is also needed. If a spouse or friend wants to attend the party Friday evening, and they intend to drive by car, everyone needs to have picture ID from recognized source such as VA driver's license. If anyone who plans to drive to Ft Monroe has a car with a valid DOD window sticker, it makes it easier to get on Post. But you can get on with just License & registration & Inspection sticker, so long as everyone in the car has picture ID. Do NOT need social security numbers. For the handicapper (Jeff): I need to know boat name, manufacturer and model, plus rig and options. I.e., Catalina 30 Tall Mast Wing Keel, Roller Furling Above Deck. If the boat comes in sloop, yawl, or ketch models, I need to know which one it is. If you don't say, I'll assume it's a sloop. If the boat has a Valid 2004 PHRF rating from PHRF of the Chesapeake, please so state, and state what the rating is. If it was rated in 1996, but hasn't been since, that's interesting, but it isn't a valid rating. Ratings change from year to year. I also need to know what class the boat intends to race in. Spinnaker, Non-Spin, or Cruising. If the boat is in Cruising class, I need a form filled out to give him "Cruising Credits." http://opcyc.tripod.com/racing/raceinst/App%2010%20CruiseCredits.pdf or just go to opcyc.tripod.com, go to the race page, and find "Appendix 10 - Cruising Credits". Have them fill it out and mail to me Jeff Rogers 6 Renee Court Hampton, VA 23664-1767 or fax to me at 624-2128 PLEASE PROVIDE THE REQUESTED INFORMATION TO JEFF. NOTE THE SPECIAL CRUISING CREDITS YOU CAN RECEIVE BY FILLING OUT THE REFERENCED FORM AND FAXING IT TO HIM. THANKS. JOHN
