Most definitely can you make your own routes.
With the command R. O. you can make a manual route where you key in each turn
and street crossing etc exactly the way you want them to be.
There is also the replay function with a space q. this records your movement
and you can, with the space w. make notes such as cross at 5th and Main, or
turn left and cross 5th at fifth and main intersection. Then when you get back
you can make a route from that replay session.
I honestly haven't worked a lot with the making a route from replay but the
whole idea of the replay is fabulous because in making manual routes you could
forget to record a turn or street crossing.
Hope this helps but they are both wonderful features to have at hand.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] creating a route based upon where one has walked

Is there a way to get sendero gps for the Apex to create a route that I am
currently walking or have walked? I will be going with a friend tomorrow and
she will be showing me how to walk to Hole Foods ( a pedestrian friendly way).
I appreciate your help and I hope that you are able to help on such short
notice. This message was sent on Sat 2/12/2011 and my friend will be coming by
at 9:00 AM est and it is currently 12:25 AM. Thanks for your aid with this.
