I am the one who is surprised. If python 2.5 is supposed to be mainstream, I'm surprised that it's not in gentoo stable. And from that I infer that there will be more users who don't have python 2.5 (yet). At least the gentoo stable people :-)). And thinking further, I think many potential users of gpodder would be daunted by the prospect of first having to install or update their Python installation, which would introduce an extra barrier to adoption of gpodder.
