Justin,
First of all, any teacher that says you can't do something because you're blind is just being ignorant and lazy. Ignore that teacher, find another one, and do what you want. Proper tablature expresses all the things necessary to play music if it's done right, but there's not a lot of support in the music braille system for that. Contact me offlist at info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and we can work around this issue together.
   Thanks!

Subject: [goodfeel] Converting Music Notes to Braille

Dear All,

I am a mathematics major trying to take a music course in beginner guitar this fall. I am a Braille reader. My scheduled instructor is telling me that I cannot take the course because I'm blind. Of course, he is incorrect, but I don't have the musical expertise to tell him what needs to be done. I have consulted a few blind musicians. I have received the recommendation to try to get the music from my course in tabs and convert that to simple Braille. My instructor says that he doubts that I can find the course music pieces in tabs.

Does anyone have any advice for me regarding any part of what I am trying to do?

Thank you all in advance.

Justin Salisbury
