Dear All,

/Jack and I recently had an off-forum discussion in which I clearly show errors in scripture, all I got was total evasion of my questions.

In view of this from Steven I think it is appropriate for me to forward this to the forum:

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the email, I've had the circumstance you've described before many times relating to thinking about a theological issue and something appears to come-up which makes one wonder whether it was from God. Ultimatly you'll have to be the judge as to why it happened. Jesus' many disciples at the time left him because to eat his physical body and blood was too much for them, there is no doubt that the requirement is thus, why did he not correct them rather than compound the issue even more by saying does this offend you and unless you can. What does he mean by "What if you see the son of man ascend to where he was before?" What about the passover? "Take eat, this is my body given to you etcetera". I used to perform this "ritual", but not anymore as you'll know. I don't believe it from God.

If it's ok I'll leave the issue of bible topics for now then, you don't appear to want to debate further either. I'll get back to you regarding the website when I have an update.

Steven.

Hi Steven,
Thank you for your response. Let me say first of all that it was not my intention to cause you any offence. I can understand why there are such things as 'emoticons' and perhaps I could have used some in my reply to you. I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just telling why I differ from you.

Its my daily practice that after Jenny and I have had our breakfast, we pray about various issues and I then settle down to read a chapter from my study Bible. I am currently reading the Gospel of John and Monday morning it was chapter 5 and in particular these verses:
/
/
/**// ^ I am the bread of life. *49* ^ Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. *50* ^ This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. *51* ^ I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.?"/ /*52* ^ The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, "?How can this Man give us //His flesh to eat??"/ /*53* ^ Then Jesus said to them, "?Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. *54* ^ Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. *55* ^ For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. *56* ^ He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. *57* ^ As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. *58* ^ This is the bread which came down from heaven---not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.?"/ /*59* ^ These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum./
/**/
/***60* ^ Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard //this, said, "?This is a hard saying; who can understand it??"/ /*61* ^ When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, "?Does this offend you? *62* ^ //What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? *63* ^ It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and //they are life. *64* ^ But there are some of you who do not believe.?" For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. *65* ^ And He said, "?Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.?"/ /*66* ^ From that //time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. /
/**/
/***67* ^ Then Jesus said to the twelve, "?Do you also want to go away??"/ /*68* ^ But Simon Peter answered Him, "?Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. *69* ^ Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.?"

/
So you can imagine my astonishment when, having finished my quiet time, I read this from you!

Do you practice it? Do you eat Christ's body and drink his blood?

(/John 6:54-56 KJV/) "/Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him./"

Questions about this coincidence:
1 Was this purely a natural coincidence i.e. undirected by God?
2 Was it directed by God?
3 Was it directed by Satan?
4   Was it something else?

Your statement above this scripture is almost the same as the disciples uttered in John 6:52 above. The problem is Steven that you, and your dad, are using far too much human reasoning and injecting too much of your feelings and this is preventing you from 'seeing' exactly what Jesus is teaching. What about the people who do not have your powers of reasoning, are they to remain ignorant? The disciples that couldn't see it walked away from Him. Jesus was always using metaphors and constantly had to explain the meaning to his disciples. You seemed to 'see' the wheat and tares metaphor but miss the one about being the bread of life. This what I mean by 'cherry picking' the Bible.

Since the Bible clearly shows that Jesus is part of the Trinity and that Jesus often quoted from the O.T. then this is sufficient authority for me to accept the O.T. as truth. You had the opportunity to find out more about the evidence for the Trinity but your dad, in his wisdom thought otherwise. If you are still interested in writing a rebuttal I'd be happy to send you another one.

With respect to your e-mail Steven I won't make further comments regarding your interpretation of scripture because unless you can 'see' what it is saying then neither of us will get anywhere.

I'm really glad that you are finding the climate beneficial in healing your eczema. What kind of programming are you offering people? My comment about call centres was intended as a joke* against *the British companies that do it. I agree with everything you said about it. However, it can be very difficult to understand them over a phone, I know because I've had to contend with it, but that doesn't excuse the greed that is behind it.

How is your 'music' project coming along?

Thank you. I'm never met anyone yet who shares exactly the same theological beliefs, even within churches.

Most Christian churches share the same basic theology that ensures salvation but may differ on the less important minutae. These differences will not cost them their salvation but may make their daily walk on this earth more or less troublesome.

This I find offensive and uncalled for, I don't take this lightly at all. So you say "I think you are a fine upstanding young man." and then you are sure that I'm satanic. uhmm, which is it?
I wouldn't dream or dare call you satanic. I have the greatest respect for you as a caring, conscientious and very talented person. The Bible tells us that Satan 'walks around seeing who he can devour'. As Christians we know that we are going to be attacked by him and that is why we exhorted to 'put on the full armour of God (incidentally this was the subject of Sunday's sermon - another coincidence perhaps?) as protection against his attacks. This is another metaphor; see Eph 6:11-17. I'm sure there are people around who could be called satanic but I would not want to point the finger at any one person other than to say that what was done may have been satanicly inspired. That is not quite the same as calling a person satanic.

I hope that you receive my comments in the spirit that they were made but I don't necessarily expect you to agree with them. I put my whole trust in the Bible as being the word of God. If I am wrong then I shall be at the mercy of whoever God may be. Since I have no access to anything that tells me or instructs me who God is and what my relationship to Him should be, I will just have to throw myself on his mercy whatever that may be.

Regards

Jack
