That's something to consider. Is the 60cs worth an additional $50 or so for a
compass that may or may not function properly???

I don't recalibrate at every cache but I often cache with the electronic
compass turned off. It seems to me that when I'm alone the electronic compass
is ok but when a group with lots of GPS's and radios present it seems to get
confused, not sure if radio waves interfere with it or what but I just end up
turning it off. My husband bought a 60C instead and is very happy with it.

Calibrating your electronic compass is good however should only be
needed when you change batteries in your gps. Also the dance movement
is not needed.... stand still and just turn the gps around in your

out of whack some times even when you don't change the batteries. And this is
not the only time I have heard this. I saw it pop up on the 60CS forum as well,
and I think I recall a few people saying they experienced the problem, but
there was by no means a deafening chorus joining in. So I suspect it is not a
universal problem, but only for a chosen few.
For what I paid for the thing, I keep a good grip on it and don't start
twirling it in my hands O:-) I actually did try it both ways, but when I spin,
I calibrate my own internal compass too. That is required because sometimes I
forget to create a waypoint for where I parked. :-(
