His name was Seaman. And I believe he was either a New Foundland or Mastiff.
Whichever, he was L A R G E.
There used to be a virtual cache called something like "Man's Best Friend".
We logged the L&C sculpture on the St. Charles Riverfront. It's a beautiful
2X life sculpture. If you do the caches in that area check it out. Here's
my log with a bit of research behind it.

There was also a black man, but he only made the Missouri Quarter and NOT
the statue.
