Take a look at the Israeli military history. Women have fought as part of their military since the beginning. The history of the American frontier shows men and women fighting side by side all through the western expansion. The history of the labor movement in the US is as much, if not more, about women organizing and protesting as men. Women and children died at Ludlow, and the other anti-labor massacres, not just men. The leaders of the antiwar movement in the US right now are women, the most vocal leader lost her son in Iraq. On 9/11 a woman pilot took off in an unarmed f16 with the intention of ramming any plane that approached Washington. And lets not forget Rosa Parks and her quiet act of defiance. US women are carrying rifles and flying combat patrols in Iraq and Afghanistan. No, they are not front line troops, but they are carrying guns. Hell... some of the people accused of torturing prisoners in Iraq are women. There is even a country song by Ry Cooder called "The Girls From Texas" http://www.mp3lyrics.org/r/ry-cooder/the-girls-from-texas/ that describes the problem of dealing with women who will cut you up if you cheat on them. That is just the way they are in Texas. And, the rest of the western and southern US. I haven't spent enough time up in the northeast to say what it is like up there.
