                        Hi Fran,
Here’s a couple of upcoming events at Cinema Arts Centre that may be of
interest to your constituents, especially those who came to the Central
American Film Fest. I hope you’ll help get the word out, and, of course, come

  OCTUBRE
Peruvian films are a growing presence at international film festivals, and
Octubre is an excellent example of why this is so. Winner of the 2010 Jury
Prize of the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes, this film from brothers
Daniel and Diego Vega (The Milk of Sorrow) is an enchanting tale of two misfits
that speaks to the richness of the human soul with humor and tender grace.
$6/Members, $10/Public at the door. No Advance Tickets Click HERE for more info

immigrant Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue, screening with a panel discussion and

Not In Our Town: Light in the Darkness is a one-hour documentary about a town
coming together to take action after anti-immigrant violence devastates the
community. In 2008, a series of attacks against Latino residents of Patchogue,
New York, culminate with the murder of Marcelo Lucero, an Ecuadorian immigrant
who had lived in the Long Island village for 13 years.
Documentaries like this allow us to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, to
see the world from their perspective and can be a key catalytic factor in the
promotion of the change in attitudes, feelings and policies.
While hate violence makes headlines, the positive actions of people across
the country are creating a different story. They are part of a movement
called Not In Our Town.

  Thanks & regards,
  Susan
