Moving the menu/taskbar to the top doesn't help either. Could not find the
xorg.conf file for the netbook remix. The search produced results for other
items, but not the exact xorg.conf file. Tried both using search from a gui and
the locate command at the command line, nothing.

Anyone else have any ideas?

There's a nifty little program for Ubuntu in the standard repository called
Blueproximity. If you have a bluetooth dongle/adapter, and you phone is paired
to it, then it will lock your computer if you move outside the set range. Once
you move back into it, the computer will unlock. You can set the distance, in
feet for the range for locking and unlocking. You can also have it perform any
other command you wish to set.

Take the netbook remix and open up xorg.conf and look and see
what they have. Or just take and download netbook-launcher and go through and
configure everything for, or you know what.. Move your menu bar to the top of
the screen and try it that way

It is enabled but still doesn't allow me to see the
  buttons at the bottom.

  That is peculiar; That has
always worked for me on whatever window manager. I know KDE and Gnome support
it. Check in Control Center > Desktop > Window Behavior > Window
Actions and see if it is disabled.

    Tried that
too, the funny thing is that xorg or KDE will not let me do that, I've
already tried that as well. It sees the top of the monitor/screen as the
top and doesn't allow me to drag windows above that so that I can access
    the buttons at the bottom.

I know this doesn't precisely solve your problem.
Position the mouse cursor anyplace on the window you need to move, Press
and hold the alt key, drag the window using the left mouse button. This is
part of xorg so should work with any window manager. You can move the
windows off the top of the screen this way so you can get to the buttons.

      I forgot
to mention that Back Track 4 (BT4) uses KDE. After doing a bit of
searching on both the internet and the BT4 forums, no one's really found
an answer. Some suggested typing this at the console/terminal:

      xrandr -s 1024x600

But that only sets the resolution, it doesn't fix the bottom section of
the windows being cutoff. Kind of pointless, too, when the resolution is
      already set to that.

I think the issue has to deal with the fact that the max resolution of my
netbook is 1024x600. I also think that it is because 1024x600 isn't a
common resolution on a 15-inch laptop monitor or for a desktop. The only
other two resolutions I am able to set my netbook at are 800x600, and
640x480, which are rather ugly and hard on the eyes.

Here's a neat video I just found on Youtube about
people with too much time on their hands and some dead hard drives:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qqv1GS7ShH8&feature=channel

        It's pretty cool, though.

Also, I've finally decided to move away from Windows and use it only
when necessary, since I've been having trouble with Windows 7 on my
tower. Took long enough, but I suppose you could say I'm now a Linux
convert. I'm using Back Track 4, which is built on Ubuntu 8.10.

With a little help from Chuq, last night I wrote my first two scripts.
The first was to change the MAC address of the wifi card in my netbook,
the second was to change the class of my Bluetooth dongle. Initially,
the Bluetooth dongle shows up as miscellaneous for class, the script
was to change it to a "cell phone" for easier association.

I'm determined to learn more about Linux and the commands, I've printed
off a few cheat sheets of commands, so I'm hoping I become adept at
        Linux.

Chuq also found a netbook version of Ubuntu. It looks pretty sharp.
Speaking of netbooks, I'm having a bit of a problem where the size of
some windows are larger than my desktop (Acer Aspire 1 netbook, mx
resolution of 1024 x 600). Resizing the windows will not display any of
the buttons along the bottom. I can bring in the horizontal of the
windows, but not the vertical. I've tried clicking on the title bar,
going to Advanced, then Special Windows Settings, and forcing the size
of the window to say 700, 550. The problem with this is that it then
doesn't make the window scrollable or provide the buttons at the
bottom. Any ideas on how to fix it? It's already been posted on the Back
Tack 4 forums, and last I checked, there was currently no solution.
Alt-clicking and dragging on the title bar doesn't help either.
