[frgeek-michiana] DSTS Eco-Fest commitment

I committed FGM to do the event since we will have enough volunteers.
Dale said he has a meeting that day. If he can't do the Eco-Fest, he'll
let us borrow his truck and trailer. Goose, Kevin, Mike and I committed
to all or part of the day.
FedX/Kinko's sells one color outdoor vinyl banners for $8/sq.ft. A 3'x8'
banner is 18 sq.ft. or approximately $150. A 4'x8' banner is about $200.
They require a .pdf, .tiff or other common graphic file of the exact
banner layout. Since the banner is 8x10 feet instead of 8x10 inches, the
file will be huge. I'll see if Xara Xtreme, Inkscape or Scribus will
produce a file that size and whether I can translate it into a .pdf
which is the format FedX/Kinko's prefers.
Next Tuesday we will pull a color laser or wax transfer printer out of
storage and test for producing handouts. Apparently, we have lots of wax
sticks for the Tektronix wax transfer printer. I suspect a straight-up
laser printer with a good cart and fuser will do a better job on plain
black text and simple graphics.
