Hi Alex,
Just to let you know the PTC block works. It still requires a little more
tuning (Pband, GAP etc) to get the OUTINC to pulse more or less in a stable
rhythm, but that's not an issue for the moment. I would never have thought of
using it for this purpose if you hadn't suggested it.
I did it like you suggested, using the MA tied to the GDEV's MMAIND to activate
it.
I then used the PLB block we use to drive the lights and included the OUTINC as
a non contact -|/|- and this setup generates a blinking light when the GDEV is
in MMAIND and a steady/sustained(?) light when the MMAIND is 0, no light when
the pump is stopped.
So that certainly is a valid solution.
Only disadvantage is that I need 1 PTC per light. For 10 lights not a real
issue, but I think I'll go for the logic code as suggested, then I only need 2
Calc blocks.
Thanks to all & Rgds,
Dirk

Dirk,
Re: I was surprised I/A doesn't seem to have a block I can use to generate a
repeating pulse contact.
Actually, there is one, the PTC block.
I generated a string of pulses on either of two outputs. The choice of output
is based on the sign of the difference between its MEAS and SPT. The duration
of the pulse is based on the amount of the difference.
It seems to me that you could get what you want with one of these. Set the MEAS
to 0, the SPT to >0, and turn it on and off with the MA bit.
Please note, I've never, ever seen one of these put to use, but it looks like a
simple way to do what you want.
Best,
Alex
