Remote Watch is great for visibility but from my understanding it still lacks patching functionality. Unless something has recently changed remote watch doesn't push patches to systems. It just makes them available (as in a repository) for you to go out there and manually get them. In addition, it doesn't actually show you missing patches or 3rd party patches (anyone have adobe reader or 3rd party on their systems...). Therefore, it is not a "Patching Solution" it is more of a patching repository. Application Control/Whitelisting would probably be a better solution for EOL systems such as Windows XP. With application whitelisting you can control the binaries (applications) that are allowed to run on the system. It's not a perfect solution and it takes time to "massage" the binaries but it can be very effective if utilized correctly. I still know some systems using NT4 and application whitelisting.
