We have a RAID 5 on an AW51, it developed serious drive trouble once and had a holster problem on another occasion. We had absolutely excellent assistance from a company called Dothill (www.dothill.com, Artecon inheritors, I think) personnell in the U.K., Netherlands, and the U.S. - Foxboro U.K. were also extremely helpful (Graham Heath at the Crawley office - Fox expert on RAID). Subsequently we installed a "patch" to read/write every disc sector routinely, this forces a disc repair regularly and avoids a build up of bad sectors which cant be repaired when one disc fails. I'm not an expert on that end of the business, so ask Foxboro to explain the detail of how that works, but we havent had another issue since we installed that patch and we're happy enough with it now. Dothill were able to facilitate replacement parts toute suite out of the Netherlands, overnight delivery. Am I correct to assume that Invensys deem RAID 1 to be obsolete, or does that go for RAID 5 also ? Regards, Gabriel O'Dwyer, Eli Lilly, Ireland. It has been nothing but trouble, several drive failures, holster failures, cable trouble etc... This machine is circa 1996, and we have a lot of trouble getting hardware support. Our system has been deemed obsolete by Foxboro. We have to wait 4-6 weeks for any kind of replacement hardware. We are currently exploring other options. Searching the achieve there has not been a lot of traffic regarding this issue. We have mixed experience on site. Seems it either very reliable or equally very unreliable with nothing in the middle.
