We had Office 2003 for 2 years, installed by Invensys in our Infusion development system. Our system has redundant fiber optics MESH and a secondary Archestra copper network. During an upgrade of the Infusion software, Invensys installed Office 2007. That is about three years ago. I don't recall having problems with it. Invensys is currently staging our real plant Infusion system in Fox Mass, and they are using Office 2007. They refused to use Office 2010. I hope this helps in your installation decision. Foxboro does not officially sanction this, but will tell you no conflicts have been reported with this Office install on MESH (UNLESS YOU HAVE INFUSION). Do not install Microsoft Office any INFUSION based systems as INFUSION uses part of Office and your Office install will conflict with the INFUSION install. Of course, no one can predict future MESH conflicts 100% (QFs, etc) so there is always a very slight element of risk. We accepted this slight risk for the advantage of having Office readily available for Fox configuration database work, etc. I have recently been told by Fox that no conflicts have been reported with an Office 2007 install on MESH AWs either (AGAIN, DO NOT INSTALL OFFICE ON INFUSION SYSTEMS), so we're going for it. I was just hoping someone had practical experience with Office 2007 on the MESH to semi-bless it. I wanted to see the answers too. I imagine that nobody has actually been successful in doing this (or maybe no one wants to admit it publicly). I will be unable to get to the meeting next week - but this would be a great topic to add to the discussion list. I don't know exactly what Jack wants to do, but I would like to be able to install Excel onto a P92/WP (Display Station) - I think it would be nice to be able to work with or view a spreadsheet - and even run AIM-ODBC macro driven reports. I don't think we need Excel2007 or 2010. I would guess since the systems are running XP, even Office2003 would be OK. Some guidance/approval from Invensys would be nice.
