Alex.

While we are discussing this matter...
What is your opinion for having OPC-HDA setup ?

i.e.:
PI API for OPC <- AIM*OPC HDA Server <- AIM*API <- OM API

> Any tips/tricks ?

Thank you in advance...

Ilya Maizlin.

I recommend the PI software that uses FoxAPI as opposed to OPC. Why? Simple -
fewer layers of code are better.

PI API for OPC <- AIM*OPC DA Server <- AIM*API <- OM API

Or

PI API for OPC <- FoxAPI <- OM API

Fewer things to go wrong.

We will be upgrading our historian sometime in the next year to three years.
Are there advantages to using OPC rather than the API to the beloved PI
historian? Or are there nightmares waiting to make some bad days and nights.
Just curious before any jump is made. Or this may be the Ford, Chevy, or Dodge
discussion.
