If you search the archives, you will find this topic has been covered my times.
I prefer the API.

Subject: [foxboro] OPC or API on Windows box and AIM Historian

We will be upgrading our historian sometime in the next year to three years.
Are there advantages to using OPC rather than the API to the beloved PI
historian? Or are there nightmares waiting to make some bad days and nights.
Just curious before any jump is made. Or this may be the Ford, Chevy, or Dodge
discussion.
Regards and Thank you
