Stan, Here's my take.

Disk mirroring software is included on every 51 series box,
No separate license is sold by Invensys for this stuff,
The Medusa stuff runs on every 51 box, regardless of SysDef, etc.
SysDef includes mirroring configuration, appaprently to inform
  System Monitor to process messages.

Given this, it is my understanding that mirroring is included
in the 51 series station license. So to impliment mirroring,
you add the hardware, set the param's in SysDef, do a 'change'
type of Software Install, and have at it.

When you do this thing, remember disk sizes should be the same
type (according to the disk's soft label), and that you should have
the second scsi interface, the one with the ethernet on the same
card. Things can get dicey if the (single) hard drive you have now
is not the same as each of the hard drives in the mirrored pair
are going to be. In this case you need to get fancy about moving
the old image to the new drives, or you need to do a Day 0 reload.

Also, the parts are available, new, on the open market.

Good luck.
