Hi, list! Regarding the InFusion ECS I must say I am quite enthusiastic about it. But so I have been about many things in the past. :) I was attending a meeting yesterday where I got some "first-hand" info on it. Mr. Alain Ginguene of Invensys was presenting InFusion ECS so I can only agree with was Alex wrote earlier: think of it as a tool or strategy or whatever-you-call-it which can help your enterprise unify the access to each and every resource you use in the company. It actually is an extension of your existing DCS, SIS, .... system and addresses the problems which we all have today: communication betwen different parts of your business. We all have some kind of ECS already installed in our plants. One customer of mine for example already uses PDAs to monitor the equipment use - utilization and availability. This will in ECS be integrated by means of Asset Performance Management (APM). Another customer views data on the web via our own application. Now the InFusion Remote View will take over. There are many examples similar to this in your everyday use. But with all of this new products coming in the following years (yes, years) we still must solve existing problems today. That means no one should stop the development on current projects. Keep on working, everyone! If InFusion ECS turns out to be actually usable, it will be very easy to switch to it. Till that moment stay with your proven solution and sleep tight.
