We made a "copy" of the /opt/ia/.profile and called it /usr/scripts/eod.sh It looks like you just change "DISPLAY=$REM_STATION:1; export DISPLAY" To -- DISPLAY=$1 export DISPLAY and then we are using rsh to call this eod.sh script (from our UNIX EoD server) -- /usr/bin/xterm -e rsh -l root W50101 /usr/scripts/eod.sh `echo $DISPLAY` & I don't know if this syntax is OK for Windows - but I assume you need to replace the echo $DISPLAY with the @d from EoD. Also - this requires us to have our EoD server listed in the /.rhosts file with our eod user-name. Riccardi Sent: Thursday, March 11, 2010 1:49 PM To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [foxboro] Exceed on Demand (EoD) set up Exceed on Demand users, We finally installed EoD on a Windows server (as recommended by the OpenText folks) and plan to share 16 concurrent licenses between multiple AW51s with at least 16 additional DMs. With the help of the OpenText folks we were able to get one workstation to call up a DM but only after hard-coding a 1 (it was originally 0) in the /opt/ia/.profile file line "DISPLAY=$REM_STATION:1 ; export DISPLAY". As I understand it, the EoD server writes an integer (1-16) to keep track of the EoD licenses. For the 1st workstation to call up a DM, the EoD server wants to write and read back a 1 so the command "nohup /opt/ia/go_dm @d &" can be used. The @d starts a macro on the EoD server that wants to write the display variable to a $1 pick. By hard-coding a 1 in the .profile file line "DISPLAY=$REM_STATION:1 ; export DISPLAY" we were able to get the 1st workstation to call up a DM. However, since it is now hard-coded, when we try to call up a 2nd DM, we get the error "Setting DISPLAY to X01HUMR1:1 5990 5992 blink_task (pid = 5992) : DUPLICATE_TASK". I am guessing because the EoD server wants to write and read back a 2 for the 2nd EoD license? According to the OpenText folks, the EoD server wants to write the display variable to a $1 pick. If any of this makes sense to someone out there, we would appreciate some help and advice. If we just need to edit the /opt/ia/.profile file to replace the hard-coded 1 with a $1, please let me know the syntax, or whatever. If not, what needs to be done to call up multiple DMs? And another question because the error includes text from the go_dm script, what is the relationship between the /opt/ia/.profile and the go_dm script? Thanks in advance for your help. Joseph M.
