Thank you, Diane, for your sentiments and a link to her Documentary. I echo
your praise for her and agree it is a loss for the community to not be better
informed of Airport events, especially for all the students who have flown with
our incredible local pilots the past few Septembers. Best,
Cat Hayden

It is really unfortunate that the notification and advertising were so late and
so sparse. I would have liked to hear her speak but scheduling conflicts
preclude attending. For those of you who are interested in learning more about
her history, there is a documentary called Mercury 13. It is on Netflix; I am
not sure if it is on other streaming services. It discusses the contributions
of women to the early astronaut training program. Wally Funk was one of these.
I found her other flying activities spoken of in the documentary as
interesting.

Yeah, there’s a reception at 5:30pm and then she speaks at 6:30pm. Would love
to have you up for both reception and speaker series if you’re able to make it.
Taos News completely botched our advertising and story too, didn’t even make it
to the paper!...talk about great communication 😊 Let me know if you’re
interested in the reception and I can get you onto the RSVP list.

Apparently she is speaking tonight at the ski valley?

Not sure. CAP has been involved. I think Taos news just put out a story...at

I’ve not seen anything on this until now. Wonder why the airport community

All,
Just a reminder there will be a special reception and dedication at the airport
tomorrow at 9:00AM to honor Wally Funk for her service to aviation. The mayor
and other town officials are supposed to be there as well. It should be an fun
event.
