 yes...savings bonds are safer...assured interest..
even desi Indira Vikas Patra are bonds :)...
in india there is another one with some good rate of
interest...National Savings Certificates...
(plus u have the satisfaction that the money that you
are putting in contributes to the Indian economy)
but what is worrisome is the rate of inflation in
India...so..9% interest actually means 4-5%
interest...
plus there is depreciation of the rupee to the
dollar...if NSC comes out with 10-11% interest..then
it is a very viable option.
